Everyone knows that a key to success in any business is communication. With the global marketplace inevitably bringing together workers who speak different languages, a short-cut is needed.

Enter Spanish education maven and Ventnor businesswoman Stacey Kammerman.

It all began as a request from the administration at the school where she taught for a program that would help her fellow educators communicate with Spanish-speaking students and their parents. It morphed into KAMMS World Wide, a juggernaut of a company that services schools, businesses and government agencies with over 40 job-specific language programs.

"It wasn't like I made a conscious decision to start a company as opposed to joining a larger firm," Kammerman says. "It was as if the company took on a life of its own. The company has sort of been like a rolling snowball, getting bigger and bigger, and it keeps on going."

Kammerman found a niche market that she provides with "the language necessary for a specific job, instead of the whole language including vocabulary learners may never use." Teaching only phrases that those in the workforce need saves her customers money on the programs, and allows customers to use their new language immediately.

How does this Stockton College grad fare against her larger and well-known competitor?

"I am so thrilled to have KAMMS be compared to Rosetta Stone, and even more thankful for their multimillion-dollar marketing budget." She provides her lessons for a fraction of what the competition does.

Kammerman is battling the sluggish economy with a sage, common-sense attitude.

"I believe preparation is the best method to combat problems in business," she says. "I've learned that low overhead, available funds and diversification are the best defenses. KAMMS' operations are very streamlined, and we are diversified across markets, customers and products within the U.S. and around the world."

She has worked into her business model ways to give back to the community.

"As a teacher at heart," she explains, "I'm passionate about helping people succeed in their work and life."

She made space on her website to provide information on free resources to Hispanics called "The Latin American Dream." She also gives one of her programs to a non-profit organization that services the Hispanic community for every one she sells. "I see information as a portal to success."

Kammerman has big plans for her brand.

"The biggest thing I'd like my company to accomplish is huge revenue growth," she says, "expanding through acquisitions or mergers and securing investors for expansion. I also have many organic growth goals for the company this year, including getting the word out about our language center in Ventnor City, expanding our translation services, and adding in-person and phone tutoring for our customers."

What should we be watching out for in the coming year at KWW?

"I have spent the past few years fine-tuning our strategy, simplifying operations, building our brand, developing innovative new products and establishing strategic partnerships," Kammerman says. "All of our efforts have just recently fallen in to place, and now we are poised for exponential growth in 2011."

"I'm very confident in our ability to grow to become a market leader this year as well as help millions of people improve their lives."
